I like crafting experiences that feel intuitive, exciting and a lot magic. I like crafting experiences that feel intuitive, exciting and a lot magic.

In this project, we designed an interactive lights feature to bring festive joy to Blinkit’s Diwali homepage.

Over 80 light patterns were explored from wave flows to spark bursts testing motion, tempo, and style. We finalised four distinct modes: Slo-Mo, Trail, Random, and Sparkle. Each brought a unique animation behaviour from calm drifts to erratic twinkles.

These weren’t just decorative. We placed slower animations like Slo-Mo and Trail at the edges of the cycle, with high-energy patterns like Random and Sparkle in between. This pacing helped maintain clarity and avoided fatigue.

To reinforce the visual shift, each mode also triggered a slight theme colour change a subtle but effective cue enhancing user feedback.

Every tap felt like changing lights at home joyful, deliberate, and intuitive.

Loved, Shared, Celebrated

The Diwali Lights experience sparked excitement across LinkedIn with designers and users organically sharing it as a standout festive detail. The feature became a small moment of joy that resonated beyond the app.

Mode Toggle Button

the toggle switch transitions between Singles and Couples modes with a satisfying flip.

Transforming the homepage layout, product assortment, and visuals in real time. The core UX challenge was to make this transition feel seamless and meaningful, while keeping all interface elements in-place to maintain continuity.

The transition effect played a key role: we explored multiple styles, from drifting hearts to fiery reveals. The final flame transition gave the experience an expressive, unexpected twist visually marking the mode switch while maintaining UI clarity. Creating this flame effect entirely with vector-based Lottie animaiton was a technical challenge especially in achieving an organic, fluid feel within app-friendly file sizes and performance thresholds.

Each mode retained the same structure, but shifted tone entirely from warm reds and hearts in Couples Mode to bold singles-themed visuals and messaging. The toggle button itself was styled to feel tactile and rewarding, acting as the central moment of change.

This experience was designed to be bold but lightweight, expressive yet usable balancing delight with design constraints to make Valentine’s Day feel playful and personal on Blinkit.

Heart Transition

The top heart animation changed style between modes soft and floaty vs flaming and fierce anchored to the same spot for a seamless, mood-shifting transition without disrupting the UI.
